Distinguished Speaker Series 2012

Titan, the largest Moon (or satellite?) of the planet Saturn has been explored by Europe’s Huygens Probe and NASA’s Cassini. What has been revealed is a true Wonder of the Solar System – an Icy World with Seas and Lakes, Rivers, Weather and more. It is both familiar and alien at the same time. Titan is the only Moon in the Solar System with an atmosphere – a complex and thick atmosphere which might even tell us something about how life developed on Earth. And plans are now afoot to return to Titan with an ambitious space mission which would be the first ever to undertake extraterrestrial oceanography!
